Wu Style Tai Chi Short Form

Tai Chi is practiced today by millions primarily for improved health and vitality. The full name Tai Chi Chuan means 'supreme ultimate fist' and alludes to it's martial arts beginnings.

Of the three major styles of Tai Chi (Yang, Chen and Wu), Wu style starts with a soft (yin) energy and emphasizes the health aspect more.

The Wu style tai chi short form is a flowing sequence of 18 movements that takes between three to five minutes to perform. Wu styles high stances make it easier on westerners knees and has been called "the tai chi for everyone."

Some of the common benefits people experience are improved balance and flexibility, more spring in the joints, and overall relaxation of the body, nerves and mind.

Wu style promotes mental calmness and the ability to let things go. The Wu style is particularly good for lower back problems.

This form was designed for people who need a more gentle approach for their bodies. Thre are no turning and twisting movements making the form suitable for people with knee problems and/or chronic body pains.

What is Qigong?
Qigong is the centuries old movement art and practice of cultivating Chi energy (also known as the vital force, prana, Ki, Great Spirit, etc.). There are over 500 different systems being practiced world wide, some which emphasize healing, health, power, or martial arts. These systems have withstood the test of time as safe and effective methods of self cultivation.

 

 

Dragon-Tiger Qigong

tiger Dragon-Tiger Qigong is a set of seven graceful, flowing movements that balance the body physically and energetically.

By moving ones hands over specific pathways in the body, the practitioner stimulates the acupuncture meridian lines (wei chi) that are right under the skin.

It's gentle motions promote flexibility, balance and a quick sense of increased energy. This over 2000 year old Buddhist qigong system traces a history to the Shaolin Temple of China.

Today in China, it is used to. help chronic conditions such as arthritis, fibromyalgia and even cancer. A great technique for releasing stagnant energy!

Opening the Energy Gates of the Body

The Opening the Energy Gates sequence consists of a standing meditation, cloud hands, 3 swing exercises and the spine stretch.

The foundational practice taught is standing meditation where you learn to physically align the body for maximum spring and energy flow. Learn to use your body/mind to release and dissolve away blocked energy. This practice improves one's "root" (connection to the earth) and can clean out unwanted energies.

Through the cloud hands practice you learn to integrate the body in movement for improved circulation, flexibility and coordination.

The 3 swing exercises energize the internal organs and more fully and deeply open the joints. The spine stretch develops the ability to relax and release the back muscles and vertebra.

Longevity Breathing

Longevity Breathing is a Taoist circular breathing method that helps to regain the natural cadence, vitality and softness of a babies breath. Longevity Breathing is great for centering, quieting the mind and relaxing deeper into your being. Learn breathing techniques that help massage and tone the internal organs as you simultaneously release stress. Helpful for folks with asthma-and can be done anytime...anywhere!

The Tai Chi Spine Stretch

Come and experience an easy to learn, uncomplicated movement, great for the health of your spine. The Tai Chi Spine Stretch gently increases the flexibility, spring and openness of the vertebrae and back muscles. Learn to feel and bring conscious, non-critical attention to both the back (yang) and front (yin) sides of the vertebrae. As you learn to release and open the vertebrae, energy is freed to circulate through the body. Preventative, healing, and vitalizing, the Spine Stretch is suitable for everyone, regardless of your range of motion.

Everyday Qigong

Learn to use basic Qigong (energy development) alignment and awareness practices in everyday activities such as sitting, standing, talking and walking. Qigong with Old-Growth Trees Workshop

Learn the Standing and Dissolving Qigong technique with the aid of 400+ year old Douglas Fir Giants! The process of consciously dissolving blocked energy off the body will be taught. In classic Taoist imagery this is known as "ice to water and water to gas." Learn how to enhance any body/mind practice through connecting with trees.
